Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya

In May, I traveled to Secrets Akumal Riviera Maya in Mexico. It is a stunning adults-only, all-inclusive resort with a modern look and tropical vibe– and I think you’re going to love it as much as I did.

The vacation I enjoyed with my mom afforded us the chance to visit Secrets Akumal, and I don’t regret taking the time out to check out the resort for clients with an upcoming stay there.

The vibe was completely different from the family setting at Dreams, so right away I knew it was the perfect resort for couples to escape from everyday life or an adults-only destination wedding. Bonus that the sargassum (seaweed) was much more manageable at this beach for the time of year of our visit. The clients I had visit exclaimed the seaweed was nonexistent just a few weeks after my visit. Bonus!

As soon as out taxi pulled up, I knew the resort was going to be a showstopper! Having only recently opened, I was expected a bit of disarray, but everything was running like a well-oiled machine. Capacity was high, but you would never know it being of the strategic layout of the property.

We enjoyed a leisurely stroll around the resort, taking in views of the beach, pools, and common areas. The multiple pools, heated in the winter, were all gorgeous, but my favorite areas were the porches with tables, chairs, and oversized swings—the perfect spots to just hang out and relax.

Tulum is a popular area nearby that boasts ancient ruins, allowing guests the privilege of exploring and adventure without making the trek to Chichen Izta or Cancun. Xel-Ha Park where you can snorkel in a Caribbean Sea inlet is also close by.

This resort is perfectly suited for a couple’s getaway, friends’ weekend, or destination wedding. With it being adults-only, it is great to escape from the pressures and stressors of parenthood. If you’re like me, you’ll immediately feel your worries melt away amidst the natural, tropical setting.
