Graceland Pt. 2

Hello again! I’m excited you’re back to see more from Graceland. Today, I’m sharing the best part, the mansion itself. Earlier this week, I shared the “across the street” portion of Graceland which houses all of Elvis’ cars, planes, costumes, and archives.¬†

Graceland

The Graceland Mansion was Elvis Presley’s private home open to the public to tour. Along with the home is an exhibit of some of his most special personal effects, his & Priscilla’s wedding garb, Lisa Marie’s baby crib, home furnishings, and more. For the most part, I’m focusing on the mansion itself. Enjoy!

Graceland

These were a couple of my favorites to see. The outside of the Graceland mansion is stunning! It is quite a bit small than you might envision, but the grounds are enormous for being right in town. It was actually once a hereford cattle ranch! I enjoyed the mansion’s furnishings, including the stained glass in the main living area just as you walked in. The stained glass “P” above the front door was also a beautiful touch. One of the highlights for me was see Elvis & Priscilla’s wedding tux & gown. So stunning!

The mansion’s furnishings are over the top, just as you would expect the King of Rock N’ Roll’s home to be! The decor has been resorted to the time when Elvis & Priscilla were married, as she & Lisa Marie are in charge of the estate. It is lovely that Elvis kept so many of the furnishings so things could go back to the way they were. The more recent decor pieces are on display at the mansion along with other personal effects.

‚ÄčNotable bits from inside the mansion were the enormous white couch in the living room, the stunning chandeliers, 1970s kitchen, the famed jungle room, the monkey in the TV room, and the incredible pleated fabric ceiling and walls in the billiard room.

Graceland is such an incredible place to visit. You can truly feel the infectious spirit of Elvis and how much he is still so much alive & loved today. If you are an Elvis fan, going through these gates up to his beloved home is a must! If you can’t make it just yet, I hope you’ve enjoyed me sharing my visit to the beautiful home of Elvis Presley!

P.S. If you want to catch a glimpse of the famous gates closed, you’ll need to visit very early in the morning. We stopped by on our way out of town at 7 am, and were lucky enough to make it just in time before they opened for the day.
